1. Check whether you can get paid

Open your dashboard and choose your payout country. Paid publishing is available only in the countries Stripe supports for payouts; your dashboard checks yours instantly. Stripe Standard collects country-specific identity, business, bank, and tax details — including an identity check (called KYC) — on its own hosted pages.

If Stripe does not support payouts where you live yet, you can still create your profile and publish free (claimable) entries now; paid publishing unlocks once Stripe reaches your country. Do not borrow another person's identity or bank account.

2. Understand how money moves

Paid marketplace purchases are Stripe direct charges on your connected Stripe Standard account. You are the merchant of record for your own sales. Fishing Codex collects a 15% platform fee, and Stripe's own card-processing fee also applies. Your money goes straight from the buyer to your Stripe account — it never passes through Fishing Codex.

Stripe pays out to your bank on your own Stripe payout schedule, which depends on your country, bank, KYC status, compliance checks, reserves, refunds, disputes, and chargebacks. Fishing Codex does not promise a fixed payout day.

3. Publish only eligible, verified entries

Publish only entries you have the right to share and that are eligible in the app. After the legacy import window closes, an entry is publishable only if it was caught in-app and caught after any lockdown on that area has expired.

Free (claimable) entries go live straight away, even before Stripe approves you. A paid entry is created right away too, but stays hidden from buyers until Stripe approves your account to take payments — then it appears automatically, with no need to re-publish.

How listing eligibility and lockdowns work

Legacy-imported entries and old library photos are not publishable after the 90-day legacy import window. They can stay in your private logbook, but they are not public entries.

When someone publishes an entry, Fishing Codex locks the surrounding area for the lockdown period. To publish in that area later, log a fresh in-app catch after that area lockdown has expired.

Publishing your entry starts a new lockdown for that area, which helps keep the marketplace based on fresh in-app fishing instead of old photo dumps.

You are responsible for checking fishing rules, closures, private property, marine reserves, protected areas, rāhui, customary restrictions, and safety before publishing.

4. Keep the exact location private until access is granted

Public entries may show photos, species/context, your angler profile, and approximate region. The public heatmap is fuzzed to roughly 10 km. Do not put the exact location in titles, descriptions, profile copy, screenshots, images, reviews, or support replies.

The exact location syncs to a buyer's app account only after a successful purchase, lifetime access purchase, active subscription, or valid free claim.

Free entry

A free way for anglers to try one of your entries. Each account gets 3 free claims (plus 3 more for inviting a friend); without App Pro a claim lasts 5 days. App Pro members claim unlimited entries that stay as long as they subscribe. You're notified whenever someone claims one of your free entries.

A single entry — yours forever

One payment for permanent access to a single entry — the exact location, shown on the buyer's private map in the app.

The logbook, live

Every new entry they log: monthly or yearly access to your subscription entries (plus your free entries) for as long as the buyer keeps paying. Publish a new entry and every current subscriber gets it automatically. Separate from App Pro — the optional subscription inside the app that gives unlimited free claims, the Follow button, and advanced stats.

5. Write entries like a professional

An entry is the record of a real catch — the place, the date, the tide and conditions. Describe what the buyer gets: species context, access considerations, conditions, and why the location matters.
Do not promise fish, catches, weather, safety, legal access, or results.
Update or unlist entries when rules, access, or safety changes.
Use real photos and accurate context. Do not use stock, AI, or misleading images as proof.

6. Know how refunds and disputes affect you

Fishing Codex does not offer discretionary buyer refunds for digital marketplace access. Refunds are provided only where required by applicable law or payment-network process.

If a charge is refunded, reversed, disputed successfully, or charged back, the buyer's entitlement may be revoked and your Stripe account or marketplace ledger may show a clawback, dispute fee, reserve, or negative balance.
