What is Fishing Codex?

A free fishing logbook app — and real anglers' logbooks you can unlock, entry by entry.

Fishing Codex is two things in one. On your phone it's a free, private fishing logbook — every entry you save stays on your own map, seen by nobody but you. On the web, at fishingcodex.com, anglers publish their logbooks: each entry is the record of a real catch — the place, the date, the tide and the conditions — and other anglers can unlock an entry to get that exact location in their own app.

The app is free to download and use. Log a catch and the app fills in the tide and moon for that exact place, date and time — even for a photo from 25 years ago — so you know when to fish that water next. Every entry also carries a 14-day weather-and-sea forecast for its exact location anywhere on Earth, built on the same global weather models the major forecast apps are built on, and it keeps working offline from your last sync. Best Fishing Times ranks the days ahead by sun, moon and conditions. The logbook, maps, tides and forecast are free forever; App Pro is an optional subscription for power features like following anglers and advanced stats.

Keep a good logbook? Publish it. Give entries away free to claim, or publish them paid — a single entry (yours forever), the logbook live by subscription, or the whole logbook, forever. Every sale pays you directly through your own Stripe account; Fishing Codex takes a 15% fee (payment fees also apply, so anglers typically net around 80%). Unlocking and publishing happen on the website; the entry then drops onto the buyer's private in-app map with its exact pin. The exact location is never public — the public map shows only a rough ~10 km area until an entry is unlocked or claimed.
