2. Account and sign-in FAQ
Is it Fishing Codex or "Fishing Code X"?
Fishing Codex — one word, “Codex”. Plenty of people type “Fishing Code X” into search; either spelling gets you to the same app and this same website, fishingcodex.com.
Which account should I use?
Same account in app and webSign in with the same method you used in the app (Apple, Google, or email) — and avoid Apple Hide My Email, which creates a separate account.
Unlocks and claims sync to that account. Unlock or claim an entry once — the exact location shows up in your app automatically.
Apple Hide My Email created another account. What should I do?
Email “Account help” with both visible email addresses or relay addresses. Before you buy, double-check you are signed into the right account. If you used Apple private relay in the app, use the same Apple sign-in flow on the web.
Can support recover my Apple ID or Google Account?
No. Apple and Google control their own account recovery. Use iforgot.apple.com or Google account recovery.
3. Buyer marketplace FAQ
My unlocked entry is not in the app.
If it has not appeared within 30 minutes, email “Marketplace help” with your account email and Stripe receipt or order reference.
When do I see the exact location?
Public pages never show the exact location. The exact location appears on your private map in the app only after a successful single-entry unlock, whole-logbook lifetime purchase, active live logbook subscription, or valid free claim.
How private is the public heatmap?
The public heatmap is aggregated and fuzzed to roughly 10 km. It is for broad area discovery, not for reconstructing exact pins.
How do free claims work?
Free claims let you try another angler's entry at no cost. Every account gets 3 free claims, plus 3 more when you invite a friend. Without App Pro, a free claim stays on your map for 5 days. With App Pro you can claim unlimited free entries and they stay for as long as your subscription is active. Free claims are not permanent ownership and are not included in data export.
What is the difference between a single entry, a live logbook subscription, and the whole logbook?
A single entry is one payment for permanent access to one specific location — yours forever. A live logbook subscription gives access to that angler's subscription entries — every new entry they log — for as long as the subscription is active and paid. The whole logbook is one payment for permanent access to ALL of that angler's entries — including every entry they log in the future — subject to the Terms and enforcement.
Can I export unlocked, subscribed, or free-claimed entries?
The export includes your own captured entries, the entries you hold single-entry or lifetime access to, photo metadata for your own content, and all purchase and entitlement records (including free-claim history). Entries from live logbook subscriptions and free claims are not included in the exported entry data, but their entitlement records appear as account history.
4. Subscriptions and cancellation
Cancel a live logbook subscription
Go to fishingcodex.com/account and manage subscriptions there. Cancellation stops future renewals. You keep access until the current paid period ends.
Can I get a refund after cancelling?
No discretionary refunds are offered. The current paid period is not refunded unless required by applicable law. See the Refund Policy.
Cancel App Pro
App Pro is separate from web marketplace entry access. Cancel in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions, or Google Play → Payments and subscriptions → Subscriptions.
5. Refund and payment FAQ
Fishing Codex does not offer change-of-mind or poor-result refunds for web marketplace digital access. Refunds are provided only where required by applicable law.
How do I raise a legal refund claim?
Email “Refund request” with your account email, Stripe receipt/order reference, entry or angler name, purchase date, and why you believe applicable law requires a refund.
What if I see a duplicate charge?
Email immediately with the Stripe receipt/order references and card statement dates. We will investigate through Stripe and correct payment-processing errors where Stripe, a card network, or applicable law requires correction.
What happens after a refund or chargeback?
The related entitlement can be revoked. For angler sales, Stripe or the marketplace ledger may show a clawback, dispute fee, reserve, or negative balance.
Where do I request an App Pro refund?
App Pro is billed by Apple or Google, not Stripe. For Apple, use reportaproblem.apple.com. For Google Play, use Google Play refund support or the purchase history on the Google Account that paid.
6. Selling & payouts FAQ
How do angler payouts work?
Web marketplace purchases are Stripe direct charges on your connected Stripe Standard account, so the money goes straight from the buyer to you. Fishing Codex collects a 15% platform fee, and Stripe's own card-processing fee also applies. Stripe pays out to your bank on your own Stripe payout schedule, which depends on your country, bank, KYC status, disputes, refunds, reserves, and compliance checks.
Why is Stripe asking for identity, tax, or bank details?
Stripe Standard onboarding collects required KYC, tax, business, and payout information directly on Stripe hosted pages. Fishing Codex does not receive your full bank account number or full government ID.
What can I publish as an entry?
Only eligible, verified Fishing Codex entries that you have the right to publish. After the legacy import window closes, publishable entries must be caught in-app and caught after any lockdown on that area has expired. Do not publish illegal, unsafe, restricted, fabricated, AI/stock-photo, or misleading entries.
Can I promise buyers they will catch fish?
No. An entry is fishing knowledge, not a guarantee of fish, weather, legal access, safety, or outcome. Keep entry copy factual and update or remove an entry when rules or access change.
Where is the angler guide?
Start at the Publishing Guide. Full legal terms are in the Angler Agreement.
7. Privacy, export, and deletion FAQ
Delete your account
Use the native app delete flow (Me → Settings → Danger Zone → Delete account), use web account settings at fishingcodex.com/account/settings, or email “Privacy request”. Account deletion is full deletion, not deactivation, and is designed to satisfy Apple App Store Review Guideline 5.1.1(v). Limited legal, tax, fraud, chargeback, and accounting records may be retained where required or permitted.
Export your data
Use Settings → Data → Data export where available, or email “Privacy request”. The export includes your own captured entries, the entries you hold single-entry or lifetime access to, photo metadata, and all purchase and entitlement records. Entries from live logbook subscriptions and free claims are not included in the exported entry data.
GDPR and CCPA privacy rights
Email “Privacy request” from your account email for access, correction, deletion, portability, objection, restriction, California know/delete/correct requests, or authorised-agent requests. Fishing Codex does not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioural advertising.
Report privacy or safety concerns
Email “Privacy request” or “Content report”. Include the entry URL, angler handle, screenshots, and the reason the content is unsafe, illegal, misleading, or privacy-sensitive.
8. Fishing regulations and safety
Fishing Codex does not guarantee that maps show marine reserves, protected areas, private property, rāhui, customary restrictions, seasonal closures, or regulatory boundaries. You are responsible for checking local rules before fishing or travelling to any location.
