The Fishing Codex app
A free fishing logbook that fills in the tide, the moon and the weather for you.
What it does
Log a catch two ways. Hit Fish On! when the fish is on and the app runs a fight timer. Land it, add the species and the photo, and the entry writes itself with the conditions of that exact minute. Or drop a pin from the plus button, with or without a photo.
Either way you get an entry: photo, species, method, length and weight, date, place, and the moon, wind, swell, rain and pressure that were true when you caught it, plus the tide where the water is tidal.
It works with no signal
Entries save to your phone first and sync when you are back in range. The map, the tides and the moon keep working offline. Once you have signed in once, a dead zone is never a locked door.
It speaks your language
The app and the website ship in every language Stripe supports. The app follows your phone's language and you can pick a different one; dates, numbers and money follow the language in use. The language choice is one of the first things you see.
Bring your old catches
Import photos from your camera roll and Fishing Codex reads each photo's date, time and place and works out the tide and moon for that day, so a photo from twenty-five years ago gets its tide worked out for the day it was actually taken. Import GPX, KML and CSV files too, including waypoint exports from a fishfinder or chartplotter, up to 10,000 entries in one file.
A quick-tag step afterwards lets you name the species across a whole batch at once.

The core app is free forever. No card, no trial, no paywall on your own logbook: the private map, worldwide tides, moon, a one-day forecast on every entry, and basic Best fishing times.
App Pro is optional. It adds the full 14-day forecast, the full Best fishing times range with the species and starred views, advanced statistics, condition-matched ranking of your own entries, and 10 GB of cloud backup for everything you store (photos, clips and tracks) instead of 200 MB.
One thing to know
Published entries are unlocked on fishingcodex.com, not in the app. Free entries can be claimed in either place. The app's only purchase is App Pro.
