The logbook

Fishing logbook app

Free. Works with no signal. Fills in the tide, the moon and the weather for you.

A logbook that does the boring part

Fishing Codex records the catch and then fills in what was true at that moment: moon phase, wind, swell, rain and pressure, plus tide state where the water is tidal, at your exact location, anywhere on earth.

Hit Fish On! when the fish is on and a fight timer runs. Land it, add the species and the photo, and the entry writes itself. Or drop a pin from the plus button.

It keeps working offline

Entries save to your phone first and sync when you're back in range. The map, the tides and the moon all work with no connection. Sign in once and a dead zone is never a locked door.

Bring twenty years of photos with you

Import from your camera roll and each photo’s date, time and place become an entry, with the tide and moon worked out for the day it was actually taken, even if that was decades ago. Import GPX, KML and CSV files too, including fishfinder and chartplotter waypoint exports, up to 10,000 entries in one file.

Then tag a whole batch with its species in one pass.

Then it starts answering questions

  • Statistics: your best moon phases, seasons and times per species. Your best tides where the tide was captured. Your landing rate. Your longest fights. Your personal bests, by your own definition of the seasons where you fish.
  • Species Codex: every species you've caught, with your own patterns building behind each one.
  • Best fishing times: around thirty days of scored fishing windows, tuned to the conditions you personally care about, and it tells you what the score was built on.
  • Conditions: aim anywhere on your map for the day's weather, sea and tide, with hourly wind.
  • Tracks: record where you went, backed up to your own account so a new phone doesn't cost you your history. Only you ever see it.

It's yours until you say otherwise

Your logbook is yours. Nothing you log is public unless you publish it, entry by entry. Free listings publish from the app or the website; paid listings publish on the website. Plenty of anglers never publish anything at all and just use the app.

And there are people in it

You own a crew from day one, and the official Fishing Codex crew is there to join whenever you want it. There's a worldwide feed of catches, events and competitions to enter, and other anglers' published logbooks to read. The app runs in every language Stripe supports.

Free, and App Pro

The core app is free forever, with no card, no trial and no paywall on your own logbook. App Pro is optional: the full 14-day forecast, the full Best fishing times range with the species and starred views, advanced statistics, condition-matched ranking of your own entries, and 10 GB of cloud backup for everything you store (photos, clips and tracks) instead of 200 MB.
