The Fishing Codex logbook is a private map of your own spots and catches, seen by nobody but you. The core of it is free. It works fully with no internet and no account — spots save to your device first.
Every spot saves to your device the instant you tap save, before any network is involved. The map, tides and forecasts stay usable offline. Offline map tiles are free to download for any region worldwide. Spots sync to the cloud when you're connected — but the full logbook works without it.
Every spot carries a 14-day weather-and-sea forecast for its exact location anywhere on earth — temperature, wind, swell, rain, pressure and more — built on the same global weather data the major forecast apps use, at no cost to you. It stays readable offline from your last sync, and days past the horizon fall back to sun and moon. The forecast is free, on every spot.
Every spot gets its tide state and moon phase auto-filled from that exact date, time and place — including imported spots. Import a photo from 25 years ago and the app works out the tide and moon for the day it was taken. You can also import spots from GPX, KML and CSV files, including fishfinder and chartplotter waypoint exports. No manual entry — you just see what conditions you were fishing in.
The Best Fishing Times screen shows roughly 30 days of fishing-window predictions for your area — star ratings, moon phase, sunrise and sunset, and major and minor feeding periods. Ratings are personalised to your own limits and catch history, not a one-size-fits-all score. The forecast is available offline from your last sync.
The private logbook, offline maps, tides, forecasts, Best Fishing Times and catch statistics are free. App Pro (sold through the App Store and Google Play) adds: unlimited free-spot claims that stay on your map, following creators, advanced catch statistics, condition-matched spot ranking, and 10 GB of cloud photo backup. App Pro is optional — the logbook works fully without it.
The Fishing Codex app is also the delivery layer for the marketplace at fishingcodex.com. When you buy or claim a spot on the website, the exact GPS pin appears on your private in-app map. The app never shows prices or buy buttons — all buying and claiming happens on the website.
