The official monthly event

Catch of the Month

Every catch posted to the Fishing Codex feed is in. Four weekly heats and a three-day final, decided by likes. Free, worldwide, and a new one opens the moment the last one ends.

The winners

Each month's Catch of the Month goes up here, with its four heat winners, the moment its final closes.

How it works

There is nothing to join. Every catch an angler posts to the public feed in the app with its species is in, the moment it is posted, whatever day the fish was caught. Local Intel posts and photo-only posts stay out, and a post taken off the feed leaves the event.

The month runs as four weekly heats and a three-day final. Each week goes to the catch with the most likes when the week closes, a tie going to the catch posted first. Heat winners go on Fishing Codex's Facebook and Instagram every Monday.

The four heat winners meet in the final. The one whose post gains the most likes in those three days is the Catch of the Month.

It is free, worldwide and on the honour system. Numbered, dated badges go to everyone with a catch in it, each heat winner, the four finalists, the Catch of the Month, and the anglers with the most species and the most catches posted that month.

How to take part

  1. Get the Fishing Codex app and log a catch with its species: taken with the app's camera, or brought in from your photos.

  2. Post it to the public feed. It is in this month's Catch of the Month straight away, and in the week's heat while a week is running.

  3. Anglers like the catches they rate on the feed. The most-liked catch when the week closes wins the week.

  4. Each month's page shows the running order, the heat winners and every catch in it.

Earlier monthly events

Before Catch of the Month, the official monthly event was a Species Slam. Each one keeps its permanent results page.

Run an event of your own

Any signed-in angler can run a competition, a challenge, a Species Slam or a meet-up for their crew, their mates or anyone. Events are created on the website.
