What is Fishing Codex — and what does it cost?

You know that mate who remembers everything — what the tide was doing, what the moon was, what you caught it on? Fishing Codex is that mate, living in your pocket. It remembers every catch so you can repeat it. And nearly all of it costs nothing. (Typed “Fishing Code X” into search? Same app — you're in the right place.)

Your logbook — free, and nobody else's business

Hook up, hit Fish On!, fight the fish. The app times the fight and saves the catch with the photo, the species, and exactly what the water was doing at that moment — tide stage, moon, weather. It all saves to your phone first, so no signal out wide never costs you a catch.

Your marks are YOURS. Nothing goes public unless you decide to share it. It's a logbook, not a social feed.

Know when to go — free

Every mark carries its tides, moon, and weather — tide is worked out on your phone and works anywhere on Earth, cell coverage or not. Tap a day, see the hour-by-hour breakdown, pick your window before you hitch the boat.

The best-times screen looks about a month out and rates each day. Log a few catches and it stops talking like an almanac and starts talking like YOUR diary — because it is.

Made for being out there — free

Offline maps for any region on Earth, free. GPS tracks that stay on your phone. And when you want to get back to a mark, the Go-To screen gives you a big red course arrow that works where road maps give up — offshore, at dawn, with spray on the screen.

Fish other people's water — free to start

Local anglers publish entries from their logbooks, and some are free to claim. Every account gets a few claim slots, and shouting an invite to a mate earns you both more. Claim one and the exact location lands on your map in the app — without App Pro it stays for 5 days, long enough for a proper crack at it.

There are catch competitions per country too, straight from your logged catches. Also free.

App Pro — the one subscription in the app

Pro takes the limits off: follow the anglers you rate and every free entry they list lands on your map automatically — new ones included. Claim as many free entries as you like, and they stay while Pro is active. Deeper stats on your own fishing. And the big one: the app ranks YOUR entries by how well today matches the days you actually caught — so you know which mark to hit before you leave the driveway. The price is on the Pro screen in your own currency.

Other anglers' logbooks — when you want proven water

On fishingcodex.com you can unlock a single entry outright (yours forever), subscribe to an angler's live logbook, or take the whole logbook forever. The point is simple: you're no longer limited to the few locations you know — there's proven water closer to home, and there's enough fish in the ocean to share. You're paying someone who's done the dawn starts — the angler keeps roughly 80% of the sale after Fishing Codex's 15% and the card fee. And their exact location never goes public: the public only ever sees a rough area on a heat map. The exact location shows up in one place — your app, after you've claimed or unlocked it.

Have a look around

Published log entries and the map are open — no account needed to browse. Or just get the free app and log your next fish.
